Exploratory Time
The Exploratory component provides the teacher with the opportunity to guide learners into areas of the curriculum that are of special interest to individual students. This component is built upon the belief that the fifth and sixth grade learner is ready to see the interrelationship between various disciplines and can apply their knowledge and skills to solve real problems. This is also a time when students may pursue a personal interest. Teachers periodically survey their students and cooperatively plan their exploratory activities, which may include nature walks, and other activities which are a direct outgrowth of the curriculum.
